Psycho Cyclist

I found another Edmonton cyclist with a blog. Jeff is documenting his training for a long ride next autumn (2010). Check out Psycho Cyclist. It’ll be interesting to follow over the following months, and perhaps inspiring as well.

  1. Hi Jim; Thanks for posting a link to my blog. I don’t know how inspiring I can be to others, but appreciate the vote of confidence. I’m committed to the bike ride in August 2010. My big goal now is having the combined effort of clean diet, weights, and cardio reduce my body fat percentage. Still shocked how high it is, but like they say, you can’t tell how fat someone is just by looking at them. I’m glad I found out. High visceral fat amounts is the most dangerous of all situations. At the percentage I have I’m in the ‘morbidly obese’ category, even though I don’t look like it. I think the importance of getting BF checked regularly has been not given the priority it should have been given. Doctors talk about height/weight charts, BMI, etc. All bunk I say, the only thing that matters is how much lean body mass you have compared to fat mass. Keep on ridin Jim!

  2. Yeah, it’s really impossible to tell just by looking in some cases. I’ve been riding for awhile, and I went to the World Health and had one of their tests when the guy was setting up my program. I came in at a decent 16.9%, which, according to my age, etc, i actually the target. So that was good, but my strength was terrible, and I was surprised my cardio wasn’t as good as I thought.

Back to the gym, I guess. And lots more riding.

Keep up the good work, Psycho Jeff.
